Black Dot

Black Dot is the best coffee in the area and a lovely morning stop in the historic hamlet of Stone Ridge. It is more than a cafe, part coffee shop, part gallery, part little market, set in a bright, minimalist space with local art and handmade ceramics on the shelves. The owners come out of the Hudson Valley hospitality world, and it shows in the care they put into everything.

The coffee is single-origin, roasted nearby in Beacon, and pulled by a barista who treats espresso like a craft. Pair it with a croissant egg sandwich, a smoked salmon tartine, or house-made banana bread, and pick up a bag of beans or a local ceramic mug on the way out. It is the kind of place that turns a quick coffee run into the nicest part of the morning.

A few details worth knowing before you go: open Thursday through Monday, 8am to 3pm, and closed Tuesday and Wednesday. Dog friendly, with validated parking and a ramp at the back. Located at 3669 Main Street in Stone Ridge, close to the Stone Ridge homes and a short drive from Kerhonkson.
