Kerhonkson, NY
Dream Cottage in the Gunks
About the property
Escape to this peaceful, nature-inspired cottage, nestled on the scenic Shawangunk Ridge near New Paltz. Perfect for both relaxation and adventure, this charming retreat offers a unique blend of modern comfort and rustic charm—complete with a private infrared sauna, handcrafted stone fireplace, premium bedding, and now a beautiful new stone patio with firepit and wicker seating to enhance your connection to the outdoors.
Inside the Cottage
The heart of the cottage is a warm and inviting living room, where you can relax by the glow of a gas fireplace set in beautiful, locally-sourced stone. A centerpiece of the space is the large handmade dining table, lovingly crafted by the host using 100-year-old reclaimed wood. Its rustic elegance invites guests to share meals, play games, or enjoy deep conversations in a cozy atmosphere.
The spacious master bedroom features a plush queen bed with a top-tier Casper mattress and high-quality linens for restorative rest. The living room's pull-out couch provides additional sleeping space, making the home suitable for up to four guests.
A highlight of the space is the infrared sauna, accessible directly from the master bedroom. After a day of hiking or adventuring, step into your private spa-like retreat, then head outdoors through the sauna room to the new natural stone patio, where you can relax by the firepit on two cozy wicker love seats. The surrounding forest, stone steps, and peaceful ambiance offer the perfect transition from sauna to starlight.
The fully renovated kitchen includes high-end cookware, utensils, and everything you need to cook a nourishing meal. Enjoy premium coffee and tea at your leisure while soaking in the natural surroundings.
Meaningful Details & Thoughtful Touches
Throughout the cottage, you’ll discover a layer of playfulness and thoughtfulness:
Hidden messages add a sense of discovery—small surprises designed to spark reflection or a smile.
The “meaningful library” is curated with books to inspire, challenge, or comfort.
Postcards from the host’s skydiving journey—stories originally shared with tandem students—invite you to explore themes of trust, courage, and awe.
Every detail has been carefully considered to help you feel grounded, at ease, and maybe even a little more connected to yourself and your surroundings.
Outdoor Space & Natural Beauty
In addition to the stone patio, the front porch offers another peaceful nook to sip your morning coffee or unwind in the fresh air. The cottage backs up to a forest where, in the right season, you may hear a hidden creek flowing just beyond the trees.
Though the cottage feels secluded, you're just minutes from some of the Hudson Valley’s best adventures. Hike the cliffs and waterfalls of Minnewaska State Park or explore Stony Kill Falls, just a mile away. Visit local wineries, galleries, or pick apples and berries in season.
