Kerhonkson, NY
Dream House in the Gunks
About the property
Welcome to your peaceful forest escape on the Shawangunk Ridge — a thoughtfully designed home just minutes from Minnewaska State Park and Stony Kill Falls. Whether you’re coming to hike, disconnect, write, or spend slow mornings over coffee and conversation, this space was created to support rest and reconnection.
Inside the House
This one-level home offers two private bedrooms, each with a queen bed and high-quality mattress. A handmade L-shaped couch in the living room — built by local artists — provides a comfortable place to relax and can also sleep an extra guest. A futon in the hallway between the kitchen and living room offers additional flexibility, making the home ideal for up to five adults.
The living room features warm wood tones, original art by Ilias Muratov, and a wood-burning stove for cozy evenings (available during the heating season). A wall-mounted HVAC unit cools the space in summer, and baseboards provide steady warmth throughout the house in winter.
The kitchen is compact but complete — with forest views, quality cookware, and a layout that allows for easy flow into the living area. We stock it with salt, pepper, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar, along with complimentary premium coffee and tea. There’s also a humidifier with natural oils and incense to create a calm, refreshing atmosphere.
The bathroom has modern stone-look tile, cozy natural wood paneling, and a stand-up shower with good pressure. We provide Puracy brand natural toiletries, like in all our homes.
Meaningful Details
Scattered throughout the space, you’ll find small surprises: a curated “meaningful library” with books chosen to inspire, incense for grounding, and details that reflect our hosting philosophy. We believe homes don’t just offer shelter — they can invite reflection, creativity, and restoration.
Outdoor Spaces
The front porch is covered and welcoming — a great place to sit with tea on a rainy day. Out back, a private porch faces the forest and offers the kind of stillness you don’t get in the city: birdsong, wind in the trees, and clear night skies for stargazing.
